As we all know, all types of STDs or sexually transmitted diseases are caused by sexual contact. The infection spreads through exchange of body fluids. Some of the types STDs may be outcome of a sexually transmitted disease, like Pelvic Inflammation disease in women, where a vaginal bacterial infection may spread to other organs of the female reproductive system. This can lead to serious complications like ectopic pregnancy, infertility, chronic pelvic pain, etc. Some of the lesser known types of STDs are as follows:

    * Granuloma inguinale
    * Chancroid
    * Molluscum contagiosum

Prevention of STDs
You can take some precautions that will help prevent an STD infection. You need to ask your partner up front whether or not they have any kind of sexually transmitted infection. There is nothing wrong in asking as this can prevent a major health issue within your body. Also, if you have doubts about the symptoms of STD in your partner, you should ask him or her to get a medical check up. This will prove to be favorable to your sexual as well daily life. Use a condom whenever you have sexual intercourse. This will not only prevent transfer of STD to some extent, but also prevent unwanted pregnancies.

There are different symptoms of STDs in men as well as women. Those belonging to the sexually active age group, you should try and know about STD testing for sexually transmitted diseases. There are certain signs of STDs that help in catching an infection as early as possible. This will be very helpful if one fears certain signs that you have an STD. It is not always penetrating sex that leads to occurrence of STD in a healthy individual. There are many other ways like skin to skin contact, sharing clothes, unsafe blood transfusions, kissing, oral sex, kissing unknown people, etc. HIV/AIDs has spread its terror all over the world, and it is always better to be safe than sorry.
